Montreal four-piece Gulfer are getting set to deliver a new split record with Buffalo-based band Del Paxton, but before its release, Exclaim! is streaming new Gulfer track "Bob Abate."
The record features two tracks from each band — who bonded over their shared love of emo and math rock after playing a show together — with the aforementioned Gulfer tune giving a nod to the titular Canadian sports coach, Bob Abate.
Gulfer's contributions were recorded in spring 2014 with Xavier Bourassa and Gintas Norvilla, and in a statement about the release, bassist/vocalist David Mitchell tells Exclaim!:
"Bob Abate" is a song we've been working on for a few years now and it feels really good to finally have it out on such an exciting split. We are really happy to be premiering this song specifically because it showcases a lot of the different elements we try to incorporate into our music.
The split EP officially arrives on April 7 via Topshelf Records, and you can pre-order a copy here. For now, though, listen to Gulfer's "Bob Abate" in the player below.
