Although she may have scrapped work on a follow-up to 2012's Visions a while back, there's no question that she's been busy working on new tracks.
Grimes' Twitter update started by revealing that she's finished a new song that's in the running to be a single for her forthcoming album. The new tune apparently takes its inspiration from David Bowie and Queen, giving it a decidedly glam-rock vibe.
She goes on to acknowledge that making guitar-driven music might seem like an odd direction for a computer-heavy musician to be going in, but states that "playing 'IRL' music" is currently her biggest sonic inspiration.
Boucher also clarified that the previously released track "Go" was never intended to be a single on her next album, but was a one-off collaborative release with Blood Diamonds — like their previous offering "Phone Sex."
According to Boucher, the single isn't being left off of the album because of negative fan reaction, but because she can't claim production credit. "It's only not on the album cuz I didn't produce it," she tweeted. "And I produce my albums."
