Eternally hair-dyed dads Green Day have allegedly been hard at work on a follow-up to 2010's 21st Century Breakdown for some time, although few details have emerged about the project. That has all changed now, however, as frontman Billie Joe Armstrong revealed on Twitter that the band will release three new albums at the end of this year and the beginning of 2013.
Armstrong wrote, "Ok. Here's the deal. We're making a 3 album trilogy. Not 1. Not 2. But 3 albums. Called ¡UNO! ¡DOS! ¡TRE! Coming September November January."
Of course, the news has sent Green Day fans into a tizzy, with Twitter followers writing things like, "I'm sorry but AHHHHHAGHSLGBSHAVBABAAHHHHHHHHHJ!" and "BILLIE I LOVE YOU YOUR MOTHERFUCKER s2 s2." Some remained unnecessarily skeptical, writing, "nice joke, i even believed it for a moment ;)"
That one Twitter fan can rest assured, as a press release has revealed the release dates for all three Green Day albums. ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! will come out on September 25, November 13 and January 15, respectively. As usual, the albums were recorded with frequent collaborator Rob Cavallo.
In a statement, the band added, "We are at the most prolific and creative time in our lives. This is the best music we've ever written, and the songs just keep coming. Instead of making one album, we are making a three album trilogy. Every song has the power and energy that represents Green Day on all emotional levels. We just can't help ourselves... We are going epic as fuck!"
