Grandmaster Flash might be a hip-hop icon, but evidently his parking valet wasn't particularly familiar with his face. This much was proved when the valet mistakenly gave his 2014 Dodge Charger to a different man, and the thief made off with both the car and a large selection of the DJ's prized vinyl.
The car, which is nicknamed "The Ghost," was in a New York City parking garage last week. A man reportedly came up to the valet and demanded the car; although he didn't have a ticket or identification, he apparently looked similar enough to the Grandmaster that the valet handed it over.
The understandably agitated Flash told TMZ, "I had three crates of records in the car, my vintage, because I'm doing a movie with Baz Luhrmann and I had to do a scene with my old-school vinyl, which is priceless to me."
He's reportedly considering a lawsuit against the garage. He has posted various annoyed messages on Instagram. That's what the car looks like below.
The project with director Luhrmann is presumably The Get Down, a 13-episode Netflix drama about the origins of hip-hop set in 1970s New York.
