Gramercy Riffs

'Desire Trails' (album stream)

BY Matthew RitchiePublished Feb 10, 2014

Toronto-via-Newfoundland quintet Gramercy Riffs haven't released a new album since 2010's It's Heartbreak, but the wait is finally over for a new LP. The band's second full-length, Desire Trails, arrives February 18. Until then, stream the album in full on Exclaim.ca.

According to the band, their sophomore LP picks up right where the last one left off, this time "Swapping themes of small town heartbreak and wanderlust for songs of heady wisdom and hard earned lessons learned." Starting off with the '80s-tinged drum breaks of album opener "Heartbreak," Desire Trails takes listeners on an emotional journey, coasting through vintage new wave ("Goodnight," the album's title track) and soulful pop ("Promises), while making the occasional pit stop in search of some country-fried R&B ("Dance with Me") and tremolo-heavy rock ("Fall Blues").

Listen to the album now in the player below. The band's official album release party will be happening on February 20 at Toronto's Drake Underground.

UPDATE: This stream was available for one week only and is no longer available.
