Goblin Announce First-Ever North American Tour, Reveal New EP for Death Waltz

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jun 24, 2013

We already knew that Italian horror/prog icons Goblin would be making their first-ever U.S. appearance in October, but the plan just got a whole lot more ambitious, since the band have announced a full-blown North American tour.

The outing lasts for most of October. It finds the band making their way up the eastern part of the U.S. and heading into Canada for appearances in Montreal and Toronto on October 10 and 11, respectively. After that, they will head back into the U.S. and make their way out to the West Coast before wrapping up with the previously promised gigs at Austin, TX's Housecore Horror Film Festival.

Most of this tour will find the band playing a different set than the Austin shows, where they are scheduled to perform their classic score for Suspiria.

The press release reads: "The Italian Soundtrack Kings will perform all of their classic cuts, including scores from Deep Red, Suspiria, Tenebrae, Dawn of the Dead, Phenomena, Sleepless and other songs that are milestones among prog rock followers, including songs from Roller, Il fantastico Viaggio del Bagarozzo Mark, and most recently Back to the Goblin. Other famous scores never performed live anywhere will be included on this tour."

The lineup for this tour will include original members since 1975 Claudio Simonetti, Maurizio Guarini (keyboards) and Massimo Morante (guitar). The band are rounded out by drummer Titta Tani and bassist Bruno Previtali, who joined in 2010.

As you may remember, Guarini recently released the solo album Creatures from a Drawer and performed in Toronto earlier this month.

Making this whole tour that much sweeter, the press release confirms that Goblin will be selling a new EP on the tour, which will be released by UK horror score hub Death Waltz. The PR states: "The EP features brand new versions of classic Goblin tracks re-recorded by the recently reunited band. The EP will be pressed on blood red 180g vinyl and feature an exclusive cover design by poster artist Graham Humphreys (Evil Dead, A Nightmare On Elm Street)."
