Gloryhound

'Loaded Gun' (album stream)

BY Matthew RitchiePublished Jun 16, 2014

After the success of their ECMA-nominated debut, Leave It Alone and their critically acclaimed 2012 EP, Electric Dusk, East Coast classic rock revivalists Gloryhound spent the better part of three years playing across Canada, opening for the likes of Deep Purple, the Cult and Nickelback. Now, the Halifax four-piece are ready to bring their stadium-geared alt-rock sound to a bigger crowd than ever before.

The band's sophomore full-length, Loaded Gun, won't be out until June 24. While you wait, stream the upcoming eOne release on Exclaim.ca.

Recorded in 2013 at Vancouver's Farm Studios, the group enlisted the help of producer Garth "GGGarth" Richardson (Hedley, Rise Against) to capture the band's raw power, which was followed up by a mixing and mastering session with legendary Canadian producer Bob Ezrin (Alice Cooper, Kiss), who came on board to give Loaded Gun that classic, radio-ready sheen.

Starting out with the chorus-laden riffs and anthemic rock of album opener "One in a Million," the band quickly blast through a collection of fuzzy and ferocious songs about longing and love lost ("I Need Ya," "Let You Down Again"), before climaxing with the plaintive, Beatles-esque ballad of "In the End."

Hear for yourself by listening to the band's second LP in the player below, where you'll also find the newly revealed video for the title track. Don't forget to catch Gloryhound on a select number of dates around Canada this summer.
