Gaza Offshoot Cult Leader Sign to Deathwish Inc. for Debut EP, Share New Tune

Cult Leader, the Salt Lake City metal crew comprising three quarters of Gaza, have announced they'll be delivering their debut EP in 2014 through the venerable Deathwish Inc. imprint. The mini-release, Nothing for Us Here, arrives April 15.

As previously reported, Cult Leader formed after the dissolution of Gaza earlier this year, with members Michael Mason, Casey Hansen and Anthony Lucero teaming up with new bassist Sam Richards in the current project. At the time, the group had said in a statement: "We once were another band, and now we're a better one."

A tracklisting has yet to pop up for Nothing for Us Here, but the EP is described as a "complex crusher" of metal, punk and hardcore influences, with touchstones including Converge and Kansas City icons Coalesce. The roles have shifted a bit for Cult Leader with Anthony Lucero dropping bass duties to man the mic, and you can get a load of the guy's guttural screams in a stream of the record's brutalizing "Skin Crawler" down below.
