Gaza Break Up

Following a near 10-year run, Salt Lake City, UT grinders Gaza have officially called it quits. The band announced their split today (March 15) via a brief statement on their Facebook page.

"Gaza is no longer a band," they wrote. "A big thank you to anyone that has supported us. Some of us will continue to make music together."

A reason has not yet been offered up for the split, nor does it note which members will be sticking together.

While the act received acclaim for last year's LP No Absolutes in Human Suffering, Gaza singer Jon Parkin made headlines earlier this year by responding to allegations of rape stemming from an incident in 2012. He denied the accusations made by an anonymous woman from Boise, ID, on her Tumblr page, a move Parkin called "reckless and completely slanderous" and "a black mark on us that is undeserved and untrue."

The woman later had taken the allegations off of her site and added "both parties have mutually agreed on a resolution for this matter," though she did not retract her statement.

Gaza's output included three full-length LPs and 2004's East EP.
