Gaytheist

"Spread 'Em"

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Apr 16, 2013

Portland noise rock act Gaytheist have a new full-length called Hold Me... But Not So Tight out May 21 via Good to Die, but the band are previewing parts of the platter early, namely with a stream of album track "Spread 'Em."

Fitting somewhere between the melodically minded metal of Torche and sludge gods the Melvins, the song is an all-out assault built around frenetic and furious drum pummelling, ruptured-speaker bass fuzz and a dirt-caked guitar groove. The highly theatrical vocals, meanwhile, are apparently railing against the kinds of authority figures who might be inclined to ask you to, well, spread 'em.

Buckle up and stream the banger down below.
