After coming out of retirement last year to deliver the Higher collaboration with Dâm-Funk, funk figure and former Slave leader Steve Arrington has now unveiled plans to look back on his career with a retrospective set, Way Out (80-84).
The album, due September 29 through Tummy Touch, collects early Slave singles like "Summetime Lovin" and "Special FX from Mars," as well as tracks that would later be sampled by the likes of A Tribe Called Quest and Jay Z.
The retrospective also features a few rarities, described in a press sheet as "unreleased songs deemed too progressive by Atlantic Records." You'll find a stream of newly unearthed wriggler "Without Your Love" down below.
The vinyl and digital versions will collect 10 cuts, while a yet-to-be-detailed double-CD package will feature 22 songs. The album will also be available through Arrington's personal Bandcamp page.
