The son of avant-garde legend Anthony Braxton and a former member of post-rock experimentalists Battles, Tyondai Braxton is a forward-thinking solo artist in his own right. Though he hasn't released any solo material since 2009's Central Market, he's recently announced plans for a new LP.
The release is called HIVE1, and is based on the work "HIVE," a five-person multimedia work that was debuted at the Guggenheim Museum in New York in 2013.
For the HIVE1 album, Braxton has pieced together eight new songs. The album's closer, a nine-and-a-half-minute avant-garde opus called "Scout1," is available to stream below.
HIVE1 will arrive on May 12 through Nonesuch.
HIVE1:
1. Gracka
2. Boids
3. Outpost
4. Studio Mariacha
5. Amlochley
6. Galaveda
7. K2
8. Scout1
