Foo Fighters chronicled the city-by-city creation of their most recent album, Sonic Highways, with an HBO show last fall. Now, the arena-filling rock group are preparing to release this docu-series on DVD, Blu-ray and digitally on April 7.

The eight-part doc is called Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways. Directed by Foos frontman Dave Grohl, it follows the band around the U.S. as they record in Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, New York, and Washington, DC.

In addition to the episodes that aired on HBO, this package includes extended interviews with guests like Barack Obama, Dan Auerbach (of the Black Keys), Chuck D (of Public Enemy), Billy Gibbons (of ZZ Top), Gibby Haynes (of the Butthole Surfers), Joan Jett, Ian Mackaye (of Fugazi and Minor Threat), Joe Walsh (of the Eagles), Dolly Parton and Carrie Underwood.

Pre-orders of the DVD and Blu-ray sets will begin on March 9. Digital copies will hit iTunes and fans can also purchase the files directly from the band. That's the package's artwork above.

The series has since won a Cinema Audio Society Award and a Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reel Award.
