Foo Fighters Hint at Second Season of 'Sonic Highways'

Last year, Foo Fighters toured around U.S. studios and documented the making of their album Sonic Highways with an eight-part HBO series, also called Sonic Highways. Now, it seems that the band may be plotting a second season of the show.

Although the plans are still very much up in the air, Foos leader Dave Grohl told Billboard that the band would be interested in documenting the stories of more iconic recording studios.

"There might be a season two," he said. "There are a lot of studios."

While the show's first season focused entirely on U.S. studios, the second season might go international.

"[Drummer] Taylor [Hawkins] is one to ask about the UK studios, he's been to them all, even if they're kabob shops now," Grohl said. "He'll show up and be like, 'You guys know that they fucking recorded Queen's The Game in here, right?'"

As for some possible destinations, Grohl said, "If we went to somewhere like Abbey Road it'd be fun to interview someone like Paul McCartney or George Martin, that'd be kind of cool. Or go to say, Berlin, and interview someone like David Bowie or Iggy [Pop]."

He added, "Or you could go to Manchester and interview the Happy Mondays guys."

In the meantime, Grohl is the Record Store Day ambassador. He didn't say exactly what the Foos have planned for the big day (April 18), but he promised, "We're gonna have a lot of fun on Record Store Day, I know what we're doing on Record Store Day and it's gonna be a lot of fun."

The band are also releasing their Songs From the Laundry Room 10-inch on the big day.

An expanded version of the first season of Sonic Highways is coming to DVD, Blu-ray and digital download on April 7.
