Flying Lotus, Jon Hopkins, Kaytranada Join BBC Radio 1 as Resident DJs

Flying Lotus curated his own simulated radio station for the videogame Grand Theft Auto V, but now the beloved beatmaker is set to get involved with a real-life radio station: BBC Radio 1, where's he's part of a new team of resident DJs who will appear on the air stating in January.

Appropriately enough, this will be for the show BBC Radio 1's Residency. FlyLo is one of eight DJs who will be trading off time on the air; other participants include Jon Hopkins, Kaytranada, Skream, Solomun, George FitzGerald, Hannah Wants and Heidi.

The run begins on January 8, and FlyLo's first appearance on the air will be January 15 (the same episode as Kaytranada). You can see the schedule below.

Flying Lotus said in a statement to the BBC, "I still can't believe this is about to happen. It'll be a pleasure to invade the UK airwaves for the months ahead."

Kaytranada said, "During my high school days, I used to listen to my favourite DJs mixes on BBC and now, here I am. Damn. I'm going to play the best music for y'all."

Last year's resident DJs included James Blake and Steve Angello, among others.
