Fitz and The Tantrums

'More Than Just a Dream' (album stream)

Since the success of Fitz and the Tantrums' 2010 debut album, Pickin' Up the Pieces, the Los Angeles outfit have signed with Elektra Records and on May 7 will release More Than Just a Dream. In the meantime, the entire album is available to stream on Exclaim.ca.

The album was laid down in Studio B at Sound Factory in Los Angeles, CA, with Tony Hoffer (Beck, Phoenix, Belle & Sebastian). The producer helped the band to achieve a rich, synth-tinged sound, and lead single "Out of My League" is a peppy new wave number featuring low-key synths that give way to a gigantic chorus.

"For us, it's our second record," frontman Michael "Fitz" Fitzpatrick said in a statement, "and we wanted to grow into our sound, as most bands do on their second record. And with that ability to take chances and experiment, we quickly realized the first rule of thumb was that nobody could say that anything was off the table. We couldn't say, 'That doesn't sound like us!' We're just going to write songs, write as many as we can, and take as many chances as we want."

For those who are impressed with what they hear below, the album is available to pre-order here.

Also, Fitz and the Tantrums will be supporting the record with an extensive North American tour, which will hit Canada, and you can see all the dates here.

The stream below comes via Hype Machine.
