Fight Amp

Manners And Praise

BY Keith CarmanPublished Nov 3, 2009

Another bold step into the gutters of Hell itself, Fight Amp's sophomore full-length, Manners And Praise, is nothing less than the steely, grooving explosion of Hungry For Nothing with even more unbridled aggression and rumbling chug. A strange pairing of lumbering drive and post-hardcore fuelled by the dirty swamp water of stoner rock, yet peppered with inspired melodies, the entire album is an endless bout of groaning guitar distortion braced by bulky drums worth of Shallow North Dakota's more atomizing moments. Interestingly enough, wiry vocals laid down over some unyielding verse patterns ensure the album isn't awash in overbearing grunt. Sure, that's the foundation but there's still just enough melody to accost the ear without shrugging everything off as too saccharine. Modestly artsy but entirely pelvic, Manner And Praise is so bold we're going to want to tighten up our apple sacks, lest it shakes them into oblivion.
