Fat Mike Detained by Airport Authorities for Calling Fellow Passenger a "Sissy"

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) may have loosened up its policy regarding passengers' electronic gadgets, but NOFX singer Fat Mike (a.k.a. Mike Burkett) learned that it's apparently a detainable offence to call your aisle buddy a "sissy."

Details are still developing on the incident, but the punk bassist offered some insight over Twitter, explaining that he had been held by airport authorities at the San Francisco International Airport last night (November 3) following complaints from another passenger.

"Just now, Some guy next to me on a plane asked to move seats cuz I was too loud. I called him a sissy. He called the airport cops...." he wrote, adding, "No shit, I was just detained at SFO for 30 minutes for calling someone a sissy."

Apparently no charges were filed against Burkett, and he was good-humoured, though belligerent, about the outcome over Twitter ("Kinda funny, but come on ya fuckin sissy, grow some tits!").

While Burkett may have been called out for insulting another airline passenger, it seemed to help his case that he was polite with the authorities. He noted: "Using the term Sir when talking to a cop is very helpful. You can get away with almost anything if you're polite to the police."

As previously reported, NOFX's new Stoke Extinguisher 7-inch lands November 26 via Fat Mike's Fat Wreck Chords.
