Exit Earth

"Sabrina"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Aug 19, 2015

Leeds, UK-based lo-fi noise popsters Exit Earth are gearing up to release a new record called Calm Waters next month, and to add to the mounting anticipation, Exclaim! has got the exclusive premiere of album cut "Sabrina."

The project is helmed by the Wavves-worshipping Symrun Chatha and high school pal Jake Maiden, who picked up some additional live members after moving to Leeds. Calm Waters marks the first studio recordings from the group, and it was recorded with Misha Herring at Holy Mountain Studio. It follows up Heavy Eyes — a home-recorded collection that dealt with "high school breakups and the isolation of all of your friends going to uni before you did."

New track "Sabrina" still retains Chatha's confessional and catchy songwriting style, though the jangling guitars, crisp vocal delivery and bounce-along beat make it clear that this band is ready to break out from the "lo-fi enthusiast corners of the web."

Calm Waters is out on September 9 through Daysleeper Records, but you can give "Sabrina" an inaugural listen right now in the player below. You can pre-order the release on Bandcamp.
