Erykah Badu's 'Mama's Gun' Treated to Vinyl Reissue

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jun 4, 2014

Erykah Badu may not have endeared herself to human rights activists as of late, but fans now have a new reason to focus on her music rather than her personal life thanks to a new vinyl reissue of her 2000 album Mama's Gun. It will be out on June 30 through Music on Vinyl.

According to the listing on Discogs, this is the first vinyl edition since the initial run in 2000. The reissue comes on 180-gram audiophile wax, with the first pressing of 1,000 numbered copies available in transparent red. The records are housed in a gatefold sleeve with an insert.

There aren't any bonus cuts, and the 14-song tracklist is preserved. The original CD running time was almost 72 minutes, so it's stretches across two records here.

Mama's Gun was Badu's second studio album. It was recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York with contributions from the likes of J Dilla and Questlove, and it went Platinum the same year it was released. Scroll past the tracklist to revisit the album's most commercially successful single, "Bag Lady."
