Empire of the Sun Reportedly Scoring 'Dumb and Dumber' Sequel

When we learned that the Farrelly brothers were bringing back Dumb and Dumber for a sequel, we knew it would be wonderfully silly, but we had no idea that the filmmakers would land such a big-name act to compose the score. They have revealed that the music will be composed by electro-geared Aussie pysch-pop duo Empire of the Sun.

In a tweet yesterday (June 24), Peter and Bobby Farrelly posted a review of Empire of the Sun's recent album, Ice on the Dune, and added, "They'll be scoring Dumb and Dumber To!"

We're a tiny bit skeptical, since the Farrelly brothers are known for their comedies and there's a possibility that they're kidding, but the announcement seems fairly straight-laced so we're going to assume it's legit.

The hilariously titled Dumb and Dumber To has been in the works for a couple of years now, and the Hollywood Reporter noted earlier this month that the film was finally going into production. Original stars Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are both on board, and Daniels told the Associated Press, "We're middle-aged and still that stupid. Our IQ has not gone up one point combined. So it's a frightening thing. You're gonna see the two of us standing there trying to put thoughts together and you want to put underneath, 'Kids don't do this at home.' It's that stupid."

The plot reportedly involving one of the pair having fathered a child and attempting to track down said offspring for a kidney.
