A soggy crowd stayed through the drizzling rain to see the root rockers Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros close out the Rifflandia music festival on Sunday night. Frontman Alex Ebert announced after their opening song that he had the flu, accounting for his noticeable lack of energy. His voice cracked in and out for a number of the songs, but his band brought the party they are known for and each kicked it up a notch to help Alex out.
Hippie beauty Jade Castrinos led the crowd in "I Don't Wanna Pray" with her hand over her heart, swaying from side to side. In traditional Edward Sharpe fashion, the microphone was brought into the crowd and fans added their own verses to the song. The band played set highlight "Home" for their penultimate song, the lyrics echoing throughout the crowd as the fans sang along to help out Castrinos and the ailing singer. Groups of friend linked arms, and sang to each other in a truly wholesome ending to the city wide festival.
