Edan Returns with New Limited LP

It's been four long year's since experimental hip-hop guru Edan dropped his brilliant second LP Beauty and the Beat, but there's still been no follow-up album in sight. Fortunately, rather than wait around for Edan to put out a proper album, Traffic Entertainment Group gave Edan free rein over their lengthy back catalogue of vintage rap to come up with a mixtape.

Naturally, the result of the project is so much more. The release, called Echo Party, is one 30-minute mix of mind-blowing proportions. As label Five Day Weekend, who are releasing the mini-album, puts it: "What began as a simple mixtape, two years later turned into a 30-min record of dance, rap and punk, utilizing everything from turntables, tape echo, guitar, moog and maybe even kazoos. He's even going to hand-draw each LP cover."

Yes, you read that right: Edan has painstakingly done the art for each album cover by hand (see one example above). The press release continues: "The vinyl LP covers are going to be all white-tip on sleeves, like those old '60s records, with Edan stenciling, or stamping, or doing some kind of cover art to each one personally. There will be only 1,000 made." The CD version will also come with a 12-page book featuring album info hand-typed out by the artist.

Expect the CD version of Echo Party to drop on November 17, and the vinyl version on December 15. Both will disappear almost immediately, so pay attention if you want to get your hands on one. Stones Throw will also be carrying the release, while supplies last.
