Montreal-based musician Airick Woodhead is set to return with a new Doldrums album this spring, and he's unveiled another album cut called "My Friend Simjen."
The Air Conditioned Nightmare is slated to arrive on April 7 via Sub Pop, and while we've already heard the lead track "Hotfoot," he's offered up another sampling of new material.
"My Friend Simjen" is a dark, tribal-sounding piece, featuring intricate, exotic percussion, distorted vocals and blasts of heavy bass. We meet Simjen himself midway through the song, and he seems like a pretty terrifying dude. The track edges on the absurd, but pulsates with unusual sounds and an exhilarating beat, making for an interesting, unpredictable listen.
