Doldrums

"Holographic Sandcastles" (video)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished May 22, 2013

Despite the on-the-surface song title, the video for Doldrums' "Holographic Sandcastles" seems more concerned with underwater activity than a day at the beach.

Directed by Winston Hacking, the clip seemingly has a camera rifling past neon coral and translucent, travelling jellyfish in some shots, while streaming the watery visuals atop singer Airick Woodhead in others. Just as the elfin-voiced Woodhead sings a line about melting into the sea, the director takes the visuals back into the deep end.
