DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist seem to be having a blast spinning selections from Afrika Bambaataa's big-ass record collection, as the pair have announced they'll be rocking the planet with even more "Renegades of Rhythm" tour dates.
With the turntable twosome having been on the road since an early September stop in Toronto, it had initially been reported that the trip would cap at Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom on October 9. Now, a press release reveals that DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist will take a brief pause before heading back out in November. Canadian adds include stops in Montreal, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton and Calgary.
As previously reported, the "Renegades of Rhythm" tour has DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist touring clubs armed with discs pulled from Bambaataa's 40,000-record-deep collection. The onstage set-up has them utilizing six turntables, two mixers, a drum machine, and assorted pieces of vintage gear.
"This has never been done before, definitely not on this scale," DJ Shadow had previously said in a statement of the Bambaataa-celebrating affair. "They're HIS records, with his blessings. This isn't just ANY copy of 'X' breakbeat, it's THE copy, THE copy that started everything. Not just any records, the MASTER OF RECORDS' records."
