Philadelphia indie rockers the Districts are set to drop their debut full-length A Flourish and a Spoil next week, but you can give it a full preview on Exclaim.ca right now.
The up-and-coming band of 19- and 20-year-olds inject their youthful energy into the 10-track collection, but frontman Rob Grote's gravelly, whiskey-soaked vocals definitely give off an older air. Grote and the gang met during high school in Lancaster, PA, though on tracks like "Suburban Smell," they're leaving behind their small town childhood sentimentality in favour of nights that turn into "6 AM."
The lineup is rounded out by founding members Connor Jacobus (bass) and Braden Lawrence (percussion), with Pat Cassidy as a new addition on guitar.
The record was recorded at Seedy Underbelly Studio in Cannon Falls, MN, with John Congleton (St. Vincent, Angel Olsen, Swans) producing, engineering and mixing the album.
Having shared the stage with acts like Deer Tick, White Denim, Dr. Dog and Temples, the Districts are ready to embark on a headlining tour this spring. You can see the full details, including stops in Toronto and Vancouver, listed below.
