Dinosaur Jr. Honoured with One-of-a-Kind Doll Set

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Nov 15, 2012

Dinosaur Jr.'s 2012 LP I Bet on Sky has no doubt impressed a number of longtime fans, but perhaps none so much as the doll-makers at Argentina's Mediodescocido, as evidenced by the company's one-of-a-kind doll set inspired by the group.

As Jagjaguwar points out, a three-doll set based on the likenesses of the band has been whipped up by designer Uriel Valentin, and you can see the cutesy hand-crafted results up above.

Silver-haired six-string god J Mascis is preserved toting his axe of choice, sports an eye-popping T-shirt and gets an added accessory of a band-repping skateboard. Drummer Murph seems to be scowling, but bassist Lou Barlow seems pretty content with his '70s thrift store look. As an added touch, the trio are stored in a box replicating I Bet on Sky's artwork. Mediodescocido has also made custom dolls of Yoko Ono, Dave Grohl, Air, and more.

While it's a drag you won't be able to pick up the playthings this Christmas season, you can at least nab the band's upcoming archival concert set, Chocomel Daze (Live 1987), November 19 through Merge. And don't forget, if you need some sort of Dinosaur Jr.-related stocking stuffer, Mascis was also treated to a tributary Throbblehead-brand bobble head earlier this year.
