Dinosaur Jr. Collect Early Singles for Record Store Day Box Set

Dinosaur Jr.'s past is being dug up once again, with archival imprint the Numero Group announcing it will be reissuing some of the band's earliest material for a new Record Store Day box set.

A press release explains that the alt-rock icons' first four 7-inches will be packaged together, along with a bonus single, for the April 19 vinyl celebration as Visitors. This includes the group's debut single "Repulsion"/"Bulbs of Passion," which was issued by Homestead Records in 1985, as well as three SST-era singles for "Little Fury Things," "Freak Scene" and the Cure-covering "Just Like Heaven."

The bonus 7-inch, meanwhile, fills the A-side with the fuzzed-up and wah-wah-flaunting cover of Peter Frampton's "Show Me the Way," originally a bonus track on the CD version of You're Living All Over Me, while a redo of the Byrds' "I'll Feel a Whole Lot Better" is found on the flip. You'll find a stream of the latter beneath the box set's tracklisting info.

The box set also preserves the artwork of frequent collaborator Maura Jasper, whose pieces grace the single covers. The box set even includes a book that features an essay written by Jasper and "unused work from the period." The set is limited to 5,000 copies.
