These Texan death metal veterans have known their share of adversity: they've broken up and re-formed three times and faced the death of former vocalist Wayne Knupp, not to mention the incarceration and eventual release of present frontman Ruben Rosas. Despite the instability, Devourment have endured, and their chemistry and charisma making their performance at MDF an early standout.
 
Their set was characterized by deep, chugging riff structures, guttural vocals and a combination of grotesquery and playfulness, as filthy renditions of "Self Disembowelment" and "Devour the Damned" were juxtaposed against gleeful crowdsurfing and luchador masks. Even monsters have to party sometimes.
