Devin Townsend Treats 'Sky Blue' and 'Dark Matters' to Standalone Releases

In case it was too intense an aural experience to dip into Devin Townsend's weighty, Ziltoid-exploring double LP last year, you'll soon be able to pick up the record's two chapters — Sky Blue and Dark Matters — in their own separate editions.

A press release explains that Hevy Devy/Inside Out Music will have standalone editions of Sky Blue and Dark Matters out by August 7.

As previously reported, packaged two very different LPs. Sky Blue is a more traditional Devin Townsend Project LP, with Exclaim!'s review noting that it was "profoundly accessible" and featured "some truly exquisite duets between Townsend and Anneke van Giersbergen."

Dark Matters, meanwhile, is a comic concept LP that acts as the sequel to 2007's Ziltoid the Omniscient. The album continued the journey of java-fuelled character Ziltoid and touched on themes of intergalactic conquest in an amusing, theatrical manner.

You'll find a puppet-assisted lyric video for Dark Matters' "March of the Poozers" down below.
