Devendra Banhart did his best to serenade the crowd despite atrocious sound problems at the Bigfoot stage, which had his vocals whispering and the bass insanely hot, with some feedback and banks of speakers stage right dead for much of the set. Plowing through the problems as professionals, Banhart and his old school band were remarkable, able to switch through all kinds of international retro-pop styles to create myriad moods, transcending the sound enough to let their impressive skill be heard. Banhart had a quiet modesty that came off as sexy, with an "aw shucks" charm, often peeling off a string of Venezuelan Spanish thanks after songs. One can only imagine the kind of trip they could take an audience on in a smaller setting with a honed sound.
