Del Barber has been making some breakthroughs as of late, as the Winnipeg roots songwriter made a strong showing at last year's Western Canadian Music Awards, was nominated for a 2011 Juno Award, and will soon embark on a Canadian tour with Old Man Luedecke. Now, he's got himself signed to Six Shooter Records as he prepares to release his latest album, Headwaters, on May 1.
The album was produced by Sam Kassirer, with whom Barber recorded rough versions of 30 songs before narrowing that list down to ten. In a statement, Barber said, "It needed to be traditional, contemporary, fresh and urgent in its scope."
Barber said of the results, "Headwaters is a collection of parables, hymns and manifestos, stories of love and loss, sadness and joy, threaded together by the search for an ultimate source."
