Being one of the most esteemed and prolific film composers of all time, Ennio Morricone's music is always in demand. Having previously re-released the Italian maestro's A Lizard in a Woman's Skin, movie music impresarios Death Waltz Recording Company have now revealed they've returned to the bottomless well to deliver a deluxe pressing of Morricone's work on 1971 giallo The Black Belly of the Tarantula.
Details have yet to drop in full, but Death Waltz head Spencer Hickman used his Instagram account today (September 4) to tease the release. What's known so far is that Morricone's score will be "fully expanded for the first time ever on vinyl," and that it lands as a double-LP in a limited edition of 500.
As you'll see in the post below, and as could be expected from the boutique label, Death Waltz has also pressed the record onto coloured vinyl.
The cover art, tracklisting details and official arrival time for this latest pressing of The Black Belly of the Tarantula have yet to be revealed.
Morricone's score to the Paolo Cavara film, about a deranged murdered who paralyzes his victims and tears apart their stomachs, has been released on vinyl and CD in the past, but those releases are seemingly out-of-print.
In related news, Morricone fans can look forward to new music from the maestro appearing in Quentin Tarantino's forthcoming western, The Hateful Eight. The film is due December 25.
