Cinephiles and audiophiles alike have been waiting eagerly to get their hands on a copy of the soundtrack to director/composer John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13, which has long been out of print on vinyl. Now UK imprint Death Waltz Recording Company has followed up its late-August announcement regarding the album's official vinyl reissue with a full list of details. The LP will see its long-awaited release on November 18.
Pressed on 180-gram blood-red and vanilla swirl vinyl, the album's upcoming reissue was overseen by Carpenter himself, who gave his approval of the official remaster, genre magazine Fangoria reports.
Along with artwork from acclaimed artist Jay Shaw, the package will include an eight-page fold-out booklet and poster with sleeve notes from Carpenter, star Austin Stoker and two essays from British film composer Clint Mansell (Black Swan, The Wrestler) and fellow composer/Fangoria editor Chris Alexander. It will also be house in "a heavyweight gatefold casebound tip on jacket featuring spot UV varnish."
The album will see its launch at L.A.'s Beyond Fest on October 10 and will feature the LP for sale alongside an exclusive audio cassette and limited edition signed print.
