Bless their soundtrack-lovin' hearts, UK imprint Death Waltz Recording Company has announced yet another trove of upcoming scores getting the vinyl reissue treatment, including John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13.
While details have yet to be revealed in full, a trailer has been let loose that confirms Death Waltz will once again be teaming up with the director/composer. The label had previously pressed up his soundtracks for The Fog and Escape from New York, as well as a pair of Halloween scores and They Live, which were co-composed by Alan Howarth.
French label Record Makers had pressed up a reissue of Assault on Precinct 13 in 2003, but that version has since gone out of print, now fetching some pretty insane prices online. This latest pressing of the synth-driven Assault on Precinct 13 soundtrack will be remastered and feature new artwork by Jay Shaw. A firm due date has yet to arrive.
In addition to Assault on Precinct 13, Death Waltz head Spencer Hickman reported earlier this week on the Spin the Blackest Circles forum that the label also has plans to deliver Francesco De Masi's score to Lucio Fulci's gritty 1982 slasher New York Ripper, as well as the music to Room 237, a 2012 documentary on Stanley Kubrick's screen adaptation of The Shining, and that of 1981 revenge flick Ms. 45. This is, of course, in addition to the label delivering a new EP from Italian outfit Goblin this year.
Closer to home here in Canada, there have also been hints from the label on Spin the Blackest Circles that Death Waltz will soon be releasing the score to Beyond the Black Rainbow, which was helmed by Vancouver synth wizard/Black Mountain member Jeremy Schmidt (a.k.a. Sinoia Caves).
