When the Dead Weather rolled out their recent performance video for "I Feel Love (Every Million Miles)," a press released promised that "instrument technique discussion videos" would follow. Sure enough, Jack White has now released a self-directed video exploring his role as the band's drummer.
The black and white clip shows White sitting in front of a pile of tires while speaking with a mysterious, silent woman. After beginning with a comedic monologue about the importance of bass in the Dead Weather, the musician breaks down his drumming in "Hang You from the Heavens." He also gives a very in-depth description of all of the pieces that make up his kit, revealing that it was custom-designed by Ludwig for his 2008 James Bond theme, "Another Way to Die."
The whole thing wraps up with a performance of "Hang You from the Heavens" in which White switches up the drum part. In the end, we see that White played so hard he broke his kick drum.
