Pacific Northwest rock legend Fred Cole underwent heart surgery last year, though it looks like his health is not yet perfect. While performing with his recently reunited punk act Dead Moon at Seattle's Bumbershoot festival over the weekend, he collapsed onstage and was subsequently hospitalized.

When they're not in Dead Moon, Cole and his wife Toody play in the trio Pierced Arrows. Via that band's Facebook page, they've been offering some updates on Fred's health.

On September 6, they revealed that the collapse was due to Cole's heart condition:

Hey everyone - so some news from the Dead Moon show at Bumpershoot today is going to start popping up online. Fred Cole collapsed on stage and had to be taken to the hospital. We just got word from Toody that he has stabilized and is now coherent again. It's some heart complications. Keep him in your thoughts please. I'll update once we know more.

Then, last night (September 7), Toody Cole offered an update on her husband:

Just talked with the hospital & Fred is doing well, so they took him out of intensive care & up to a regular room. Couple more tests before they decide what needs to be done. Thanks for all your love & support.

Thanks to The Stranger for the tip.
