Back in the fall, Twin Peaks fans rejoiced when it was announced that the classic '90s show would be returning for a third season with original creators David Lynch and Mark Frost at the helm. Well, it looks like we may have celebrated too soon, since Lynch has now announced that he's off the project.

Rumours had circulated that Showtime would be cancelling the reboot of the series. Lynch clarified by issuing a statement saying that he had exited the show, but that Showtime may well still be planning on a new season of Twin Peaks without him. Previous reports had suggested that Twin Peaks would be back in 2016 with Kyle MacLachlan returning as Dale Cooper. Now, however, the future of the show appears uncertain.
