Glenn Danzig clearly loves his fanbase tender, as it's been revealed that in addition to that previously confirmed set of Elvis covers, the metal/punk veteran will also be delivering a new album of original material later in 2015. On top of that, he has a pile of other new projects on the go, including a contribution to much-loved zombie TV series The Walking Dead.
Though details are slim, a new interview with the Examiner has Danzig hinting that a new studio album from his long-running titular project should arrive by the fall of 2015. Though it's unclear if he's begun work on the album yet, it will be his first collection of original music since 2010's Deth Red Sabaoth.
"I'm pretty lucky in that a long time ago I started my own label. So I can just put out stuff when I want as long as I have a good distributor and no one can kick me off my own label," he said. "So I make sure that it sounds like what people expect Danzig to sound like and hopefully they'll like the product when it comes out. That's really all that I do."
Along with the new studio album, Danzig revealed he has written a new song that's set to appear in an upcoming episode of The Walking Dead, as well as appear on an upcoming soundtrack to the show. Danzig also said he may appear on the upcoming wrap-up show The Talking Dead.
It's also presented in the piece that Danzig's long-in-the-works covers record should land in March, though this still-to-be-detailed release has been in limbo for years. In the past, he'd hinted that it would feature covers of Black Sabbath and Elvis Presley. A run-through of Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's "Some Velvet Morning," sung alongside former Runaways vocalist Cherie Currie, was unveiled in 2013.
As before, Danzig suggested that all of the upcoming covers won't just be basic revisions of the originals, but rather tunes given the signature Danzig treatment.
The details on the forthcoming Danzig Sings Elvis EP are also a little unclear, though the singer revealed back in August that he was spending a week in the studio tracking the tributary set.
If that wasn't enough, Danzig is also still working on his directorial film debut Ge Rouge, based on the comic of the same name from his Verotik imprint.
"We're still doing it," Danzig said. "It's just in Hollywood you go from producer to producer…but it looks like it's actually really going to happen this time…and we asked the Soska sisters to direct a Verotika pic and they reacted very favorably to it."
Of course, Danzig is currently out on a tour with the reunited Samhain, who are set to play the Housecore Horrorest in Austin on Sunday (October 26). Danzig also plays San Bernadino, CA's Knotfest tomorrow (October 25). You can see all the upcoming Samhain dates here.
