Daniel Rossen

"Not Coming Back" (demo)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Nov 12, 2012

Daniel Rossen has delivered a lot of delicately penned indie rock this year, from his solo EP Silent Hour/Golden Mile to his writing contributions to Grizzly Bear's Shields, but the New York songwriter apparently still has some a trove of treasures to deliver on the side. Yesterday (November 11), Rossen unveiled another stunner called "Not Coming Back," and you can check it out in the stream down below.

Written in early 2011, the song suits his general style, with detuned but dainty six-string licks, folky arrangements, and classic Disney-era choir arrangements (think Dumbo's "Baby Mine") flooding the senses.

"It's not exactly finished, the lyric is rough, but I still enjoy what it is and eventually this song lead to other tunes on the EP and on Shields that I'm happy with," Rossen said in a statement, before adding that "It's a wintery New York song to me, it reminds me of home. And at this particular moment I miss home, and I feel like I should be there after all that's happened recently. So there it is."
