Daniel Johnston Frog Becomes Collectable Figurine

BY Brock ThiessenPublished May 22, 2008

Since Daniel Johnston graced the cover of Hi, How Are You with a google-eyed frog-like creature, it’s become quite the iconic symbol for the songwriter. Dubbed Jeremiah the Innocent, the image has gone on to plaster countless T-shirts (one once prominently worn by Kurt Cobain), Johnston drawings and even a mural outside Austin’s Sound Exchange. Well now, after years of being trapped in the two-dimensional world, Jeremiah the Innocent is finally going 3D.

The design firm At Arms has transformed Johnston’s frog into a trio of figurines — one white, one green and one yellow. They have already hit the market and are in limited runs of 350 for the white, 250 for the green and 250 for the yellow. Each also comes encased in a cute little cardboard box (which nerds will leave unopened for increased eBay value) and, well, look pretty awesome.

You can buy yourself a Jeremiah the Innocent figurine here.

In other Johnston news, the superhero-loving songwriter is trekking over to Europe for a few live dates, which involve him playing in a supergroup of musicians composed of James McNew of Yo La Tengo, Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse, Scout Niblett, Norman Blake of Teenage Fanclub, and Jad Fair of Half Japanese. If you are lucky enough to be living in that part of the world, here are the dates:

7/18 Stockholm Sweden, Sticky Fingers
7/19 Gothenburg Sweden, Berns
7/20 Oslo Norway, Rockefellar
7/23 Glasgow Scotland, The Old Fruit Market
7/24 Manchester England, New Century House
