Following the release of his massive 131-song box set The Story of an Artist, outsider indie rock hero Daniel Johnston has announced a brief tour.
The run of shows includes stops in England and the United States, but most importantly, it will see Johnston return to Vancouver, with a show at the Rio Theatre on August 27. Tickets for the event are available here for $25 plus service charges.
In related news, Johnston's fundraising campaign has raised above and beyond the funding required to produce Daniel Johnston's Infinite Comic Book of Musical Greatness. As previously reported, Johnston was raising money to release a limited run of the comic book, and a visit to the Kickstarter page reveals that the project raised $26,364 of the $10,000 required to produce the comics.
An update in May suggested that the comic book would print in early June and hopefully have finished copies ready at the end of the month, adding, "Daniel has been working hard on the comic book. The early samples are super cool. I'm sure the final comic book is going to be something that is very special."
