D'Angelo's 'Brown Sugar' Gets 20th Anniversary Vinyl Pressing

BY Alex HudsonPublished Mar 20, 2015

D'Angelo recently released his latest album Black Messiah on vinyl, and now he's dipping into his back catalogue for a new wax pressing of his 1995 classic Brown Sugar.

This new edition is being pressed on two white records. It will be released on April 21 through Universal's Respect the Classics campaign (which emphasizes classic hip-hop reissues).

This coincides with the 20th anniversary of the album. It's the first time Brown Sugar has been pressed on vinyl in nearly a decade, and wax copies currently fetch triple digits online.

There isn't any bonus material, and the 10-song tracklist is being preserved. Check it out below. It's available to pre-order through Respect the Classics' website.

Thanks to Modern Vinyl for the tip.

This reissue will arrive just a few days after a couple of tracks from Black Messiah are pressed on a 7-inch for Record Store Day (April 18).
