Dan Mangan Cleans House at Western Canadian Music Awards

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Oct 25, 2010

While Dan Mangan's Nice, Nice, Very Nice came up short at this year's Polaris Music Prize ceremony, the Vancouver singer-songwriter can take solace in not one but three victories at last night's (October 24) Western Canadian Music Awards in Kelowna, BC.

Edging out a number of nominees, Mangan's triad of trophies included wins for Independent Album of the Year, Roots Solo Recording of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. Though some other West coast notables picked up awards of their own, Mangan was the only artist to manage multiple wins.

Fellow Polaris Music Prize short-listers Tegan and Sara won the award for International Achievement, while You Say Party's XXXX picked up the win for Rock Recording of the Year. Also, Grand Analog took the prize for Rap/Hip Hop Recording of the Year with their album Metropolis Is Burning.
