Dan Mangan and Blacksmith are getting generous with the pre-album previews for their Club Meds LP, delivering another dose of darkened genre dabbling with a stream of its "Kitsch."
The track starts off as a hazy soundscape of shuffling drums and counter-rhythm glass tapping. A speedy, almost Afrobeat-influenced guitar run pans out of one speaker, with conch shell reverberations of textured sound filling out the ether. Mangan's vocals run a little low in the mix, even with a wash of bright-light distortion punching up his saddened singing.
The full-bodied experiment can be found down below, while the rest of Club Meds lands January 13 through Arts & Crafts. Mangan and Blacksmith also have a number of tour dates coming up with Hayden, which can be seen here.
