Britpop icon Damon Albarn is rarely at a loss for creative outlets, leading the likes of Blur, Gorillaz, and the Good the Bad and the Queen, and finally releasing his debut solo album Everyday Robots last year. But it seems the UK songwriter still has the energy for another project, and will be unveiling a new musical this summer.
Back in the fall, we reported that Albarn was "working on a musical theatre adaptation of a children's book," and it has now been revealed that the book in question is Lewis Carroll's fantastical classic Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
Albarn's stage version is titled Wonder.land and will be presented during the Manchester International Festival in July. It will be directed by Rufus Norris, who previously worked on Albarn's second opera Monkey: Journey to the West. His debut into the world of theatre came in 2011 with Dr Dee: An English Opera.
