Now that Abandon All Ships have docked for good, vocalist Martin Broda has been putting time into a new project called Curses. The Toronto band's debut EP The Bridge is out October 16, but you can stream the whole thing a week ahead of time on Exclaim!
The five-song release starts off with Broda trying to keep his head above water on "Back to Your Love," a snippy post-hardcore beat and distorted but sweet melodies helping prop the guy up. "Headlights" is likewise a bit fraught with confusion ("Where did I go wrong? / What am I to do?"), but feels peppier with its double-time drums, hand-claps and buzzed-up six-strings.
