Crusades

"The Shadow of Ideas" (video)

Ottawa's Crusades explore mob mentality in the torture-laden new set of visuals behind their Perhaps You Deliver This Judgment With Greater Fear Than I Receive It track "The Shadow of Ideas."

The six-minute clip starts off with an extended dramatic monologue running atop rustic footage of a township storming the home of a woman apparently believed to be a witch, who is promptly burned at the stake. Once the melodic pop-punk blitz is introduced, we see a bummer of a scene where a king and a series of ecclesial figures cooly observe a trial of a heretic, who likewise gets tortured, shackled and ultimately immolated in the name of religion.

The video was prepped by Jason Gilmore using footage from Giuliano Montaldo's 1973 film Giordano Bruno, about the philosopher/martyr on which Perhaps You Deliver This Judgment With Greater Fear Than I Receive It was based.
