'Perhaps You Deliver This Judgment With Greater Fear Than I Receive It' (album stream)

Crusades
Ottawa's Crusades haven't released a full-length since their 2011 debut, The Sun Is Down and the Night is Riding In, but the wait is finally over for another disc. Their newest long-player, Perhaps You Deliver This Judgment With Greater Fear Than I Receive It, is out on November 5 through No Idea Records. Until then, stream the album in its entirety on Exclaim.ca.

Injecting punk with a welcomed literary-minded approach, the outfit take the teachings of Italian friar and philosopher Giordano Bruno — who tried to pass "down an intoxicating idea to the generation that was to follow him…The sky was no longer simply a 15th Century God's backyard, and it was too vast to be presided over by a 15th Century God" — and transform them into 10 songs of melodic hard rock.

Setting the tone with the anthemic "The Torchbearer," the album goes on to deliver chaotic scorchers like "The Shadow of Ideas" and "The Expulsion," perfectly exemplifying the band's balance between dark themes and fist-pumping punk melodies.

Hear for yourself by listening to the full LP, in all its high-brow glory, in the player below.

The album was recorded by Mike Bond (Sonburst, Airliner Blues Band) at Pebble Studios and the Bond Cave in the four-piece's native Ottawa, and you can pre-order it here.
